Push the thin end of the wedge between the strings and the drum body as far down the body as you can. The harder you push them, the tighter the tension and the higher the drum sound. Best to space the wedges evenly around the drum.You can also increase the pitch by warming the skin gently - in the sun, by rubbing with the hands or by (carefully!) using a hair dryer.
