Drums (kendang), cymbals (cengceng) and flutes (suling)

Drums traditionally lead the gamelan ensemble while cymbals are used as punctuation and flutes embroider the flowing melodies. There are different sizes of each instrument, each with its own tone. A mix of sizes will give you the maximum tonal range.
