An end-blown bamboo flute (called "suling" in Indonesia) which plays like a recorder (though with an asian scale) and makes a beautifully sweet sound. Similar flutes often form part of the Indonesian gamelan orchestra. This one is 50cm (20 inches) long and has a very mellow lower octave. Blow into the slit in the closed end, allowing the air to come out of the air hole about an inch down the stem.
