An end-blown bamboo flute (called "suling" in Indonesia) which plays like a recorder (though with an asian scale) and makes a beautifully sweet sound. Similar flutes often form part of the Indonesian gamelan orchestra. This one is just 35cm (14 inches) long and costs next to nothing. Blow into the slit in the closed end, allowing the air to come out of the air hole about an inch down the stem.
