Legong Bapang Lasem This is one of the variations of Legong Lasem from Peliatan, danced by senior dancers from the sixties, which shows the dynamic movements of the Bapang part. The first dancer, Condong, is followed by two Legong dancers who act as the King of Lasem and Princess Rangkesari from Daha, two past kingdoms in Java island. Rangkesari weeps and rejects the Kingï¾’s advances since she was already engaged to Prince Kauripan from another kingdom. The angry King Lasem decided to attack Kauripan. On the way to the battlefield, he was attacked by a Garuda bird, a bad omen as a sign that he will die in war.

Legong Mintaraga With the Peliatan classical Legong dance style, this piece is created for six dancers. It enacts a piece of Arjuna Wiwaha story, written by Empu Kanwa, a Javanese poet from the 13th century. Starting with the Condong opening dance and the five legongs as the five brothers of Pandawa family wandering in the forest. Later, each dancer changes roles. One day, the old sage Begawan Byasa adviced the middle son Arjuna to find the mighty weapon. Arjuna has to subdue various emotions but finally found his strength to meditate. In the ムwayangメ or shadow puppets legend, during meditation, Arjuna was named Begawan Mintaraga. He was tested by God Shiva by beautiful nymphs led by Dewi Supraba. Arjuna only woke up when being attacked by a wild boar ムCelengメ. He defeated it with his spear, only to find out that a mysterious warrior named Satria also claimed the victory. They engaged in a fight and Arjuna could not be defeated. The warrior resumed his true as Shiva and bestowed the mighty weapon Pasopati to Arjuna. This arrow will later protect the Pandawa family in the big battle Baratayudha. This creation presents the importance of self control and overcoming worldly passions.
